AVENGERS Star Samuel L. Jackson In Talks For KONG: SKULL ISLAND
If Legendary whipped up a storm with its announcement of the franchise-launching Kong: Skull Island at last year’s Comic-Con, then it effectively had moviegoers on the edge of their seats when it confirmed that Michael Keaton and J.K. Simmons were attached to the creature feature.
Batman Begins’ Tom Wilkinson has also reportedly been offered a lead role. No details have been given for any of these actors’ roles. Given the title of the film, we should expect that a majority of it takes place on King Kong’s home island, though expect to see civilization at some point during the film.
Barring any scheduling hiccups that forced Keaton and Simmons’ deaprtures, Kong: Skull Island will star Brie Larson, Tom Hiddleston and Straight Outta Compton up-and-comer Corey Hawkins, who are all bound for the foreboding, primordial isle. However, according to ScreenRant, as Simmons previously stated, the film will be taking place in the 1970s and will be venturing in the natural habitat of the Kin Kong, Skull Island as opposed to the usual plots where the giant ape wreaks havoc in the city.
Legendary Pictures is also going to produce “Straight Outta Compton” and reports say that the studio wants to keep the actor for “Skull Island”, expecting his career to rise following the former film.
“Well really it was [director] Jordan Vogt-Roberts has such an extraordinary vision”, he said when asked what made him decide to accept the project in an interview with Red Carpet News TV.
