Sophia Eggleston says she’s the real Cookie Lyon, wants $300
Several months later, Eggleston says, she got a call from Miller saying that she was meeting with Lee Daniels and pitching him Eggleston’s life story.
In the lawsuit filed in Michigan, Eggleston says the similarities between herself and Cookie include the fact that they were both incarcerated drug kingpins who put out a “hit” after they got out, they both like mink coats, and they both have a close gay relative.
While Cookie is one of the most infamous characters on ‘Empire, ‘ one woman said she’s the real-life Cookie and wants to be paid for the series stealing her life story. “I’ve given my life to God”. “In 24 hours, you will have our company”, Cookie tells her son, Andre (Trai Byers).
She also said she went to prison for putting a hit on someone, and Cookie’s character – played by award-winning actress Taraji P Henson – did the same thing.
“You miss me?” asks his former wife, without an ounce of emotion. She said Miller called her in 2012 and told her that she had everything set up and that she would be meeting with Daniels to formalize the paperwork. Eggleston, however, says people have been comparing her to the slick-talking record executive since the series aired. “Cookie was a drug kingpin that went to jail”. I feel like I’m kind of going through a parallel universe – the fame element and holding on to who you were before you had all of this. Its list of cast members continue to grow as well ahead of the season premiere while Oprah’s possible appearance has just been updated. “This was me. This is my life, I thought”.
