Maruti planning 100 NEXA showrooms by FY16

The first step towards strengthening foothold in the segment was the launch of its premium mid-size sedan Ciaz, of which the company sold 55,000 units in 11 months. The S-Cross will be available only in diesel engine options of 1.6 litre and 1.3 litre. DDiS200 engine is available in five variants namely Sigma, Sigma (O), Delta, Zeta, and fully-loaded Alpha.

India’s biggest vehicle maker, Maruti Suzuki has unveiled the S-Cross, a premium crossover, priced in the range of Rs 8.34 lakh to Rs 13.74 lakh (Ex-showroom, Delhi).

The Interior of S-Cross is a stunner, as it is completely of black in color added with chrome finish on AC louvers and the top end variants have leather upholstery, conversely basic models feature fabric upholstery. Consumers are also excited for the launch as this ride will be sold exclusively via the NEXA showroom, a modern retail channel set up by the company that focuses on giving visitors a lifetime experience.

The DDiS 320 variant offers a power of 88W@3750rpm, 320Nm torque at 1750 RPM. It is in that spirit today, we are launching S-CROSS. A 1.3-litre diesel mill with a variable geometry turbocharger developing 90PS of power and 200Nm of torque runs under the new crossover.

The company will not let go of its dominant share in the mass market segment easily and intends to open around 200 new Maruti Suzuki showrooms by the end of 2016. Built on a brand new platform, its bold cross-over shape, dynamic character lines and many sophisticated touches contribute to its distinct look and emotional appeal. “The high performance suspension, enhanced handling cornering performance and stability, together make S-Cross a sheer thrill to drive”. The S-CROSS design embodies the three key themes of emotion, quality and aerodynamics.

The pricing has placed the S-Cross, at least the 1.6-litre, DDiS 320 variants in contention with popular sedans like the Honda City as well as proper SUVs like the Scorpio, Duster etc. It will be interesting to see how the auto fares in the market.

S-Cross comes with hi-tensile steel body, all wheel disc brakes with ABS, front seat pre-tensioner and force limiter and dual air bags across all variants.
