The Walking Dead’s Corey Hawkins joins Kong: Skull Island
Recently Universal’s “Kong: Skull Island” lost a pair of amazingly talented actors in the form of Michael Keaton and J.K. Simmons.
Finally the third actor possibly landing a role on the film is actor Tom Wilkinson who would take on a lead role in the star studded feature.
The cast for the film now includes the god of mischief himself, Tom Hiddleston, along with Short Term 12 star Brie Larson and Straight Outta Compton’s Corey Hawkins.
Russell Crowe is reportedly being courted for one of the aforementioned roles as well.
Legendary’s Thomas Tull and Jon Jashni will produce with Alex Garcia, and Eric McLeod is on board as exec producer.
“Kong: Skull Island” will be hitting theaters on March 10, 2017.
Directed by Jordan Vogt-Roberts (The Kings Of Summer), using a script by John Gatins and Max Borenstein (Godzilla, Godzilla 2), production for Skull Island is expected to start late this year or early 2016. Legendary’s story honors the foundations of existing King Kong lore, but places it in an entirely new, distinct timeline.
While not much has been revealed about the movie’s plot, it is reportedly set in the mysterious island where the king of the apes lives. The performance that Kong gives as a character is key to making this film work, so I hope that great care is taken to make it right, especially since IMAX 3D is said to be a big part of the release plan for the movie, and Kong needs to look good on such a massive screen.
