Dad gets matching tattoo of daughter’s cochlear implant
Charlotte’s mum, Anita Campbell, wasn’t so sure her daughter had quite grasped the significance of the tattoo yet.
The photo shows he has had tattooed on him the image of a similar-looking implant.
Just a few days before her cochlear implant, Charlotte’s dad, Alistair Campbell, got a cochlear implant himself.
“I thought it would be a fitting tribute to her and to show her love and what she goes though in her journey and our journey over the last three years”, he said.
According to Huffington Post, 6-year-old Charlotte Campbell is deaf in her left ear and has a condition that inhibits her right from transmitting sound to her brain.
Her confidence had been transformed as a result, her parents said.
She hoped her daughter’s latest implant in her right ear would further “enhance her life”.
“You can imagine, if you only had one ear, how hard it would be”.
The family likened her case to a stereo with a single speaker.
He shaved his head to get the tattoo but said he plans to grow his hair back and shave it for special occasions.
She added that having a second implant fitted would ‘enhance [Charlotte’s] life.’.
Charlotte’s mother told the NZ Herald she wasn’t surprised when they found out their daughter had to have a hearing aid.
Alistair will be fighting for a charity boxing match on December as part of the Zero Risk King of the Ring to raise funds for his own charity, HEAR 4 KIDZ TRUST, which supports local kids from Taupo with hearing disabilities.
