Mazda will unveil new crossover concept in Frankfurt
A new concept from Mazda – the Mazda Koeru – is heading for a debut at the 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show, and looks to preview a new coupe crossover.
The word “Koeru” in Japanese denotes exceeding or going beyond something arbitrary, which Mazda says reflects the concept’s mission to “exceed existing category standards and stereotypes”.
Joining the Koeru concept at the 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show will be a total of 14 vehicles including the Mazda2, Mazda3, Mazda6, CX-3, CX-5 and MX-5 Miata.
However, Mazda hasn’t released any information on how big it actually is yet, leading speculators to guess where in the range it’ll sit, with some believing it could be larger than Mazda’s current crossovers on sale, and be potentially called the CX-6.
Stay tuned, we’ll bring you more on Mazda’s latest concept straight from the show floor in Frankfurt starting on September 15th. Mazda’s press conference takes place at 13:45 (hall 9.0, B16) on 15 September, the first of two press days.
The rendering was done by Luca Zollino, while the name “Koeru” means to exceed or go beyond something arbitrary. “The latest Skyactiv technologies ensure the model provides outstanding environmental performance without compromising on Mazda’s renowned driving pleasure”, the official statement reads.
But is the Koeru just a concept to prove what Mazda can do in this segment with its KODO design language, or is the Koeru actually heading for production?
