Barca expect Pedro to stay, says technical secretary

Spain worldwide Pedro, who has a £22m escape clause in his contract at the Nou Camp, has been urged to stay at the club by manager Luis Enrique.

Manchester United’s pursuit of Barcelona forward Pedro has been one of the more interesting and entertaining transfer rumor story lines of the summer.

“Obviously when someone like him leaves the club it is something we feel because it is not easy to find players with his humility and eagerness to improve after having won so much”.

‘There will only be exits if someone wants to leave and at the moment we don’t have news about this.’.

“[Pedro] has a release clause of €30m, and we are waiting for someone to make the offer”,

What the figures show is that Pedro is a better fit for United’s need, with the club light in attack they need a clinical goalscorer, rather than a creator – with Memphis Depay ready to fill that void.

Manuel Pellegrini’s team are set to claim a Pot Two position due to points earned on their run to last season’s second round.

With Angel Di Maria more than likely to leave Manchester United, most fans have been attributing that to Ashley Young’s comeback.

Former Manchester United striker Diego Forlan has urged Louis van Gaal to sign a number nine – apart from Pedro Rodriguez – before the end of the transfer window, as Wayne Rooney can not cope alone with a busy season where the Premier League giants will return to the Champions League.

He added: “You have to let him play and that’s how it was for him at Real Madrid; sometimes he played behind the striker, sometimes on the left or on the right, and sometimes he didn’t come back”.

Di Maria struggled to settle in England, despite showing fine form in his first couple of months, and lost his place in United’s strongest side after he was sent off in March’s 2-1 FA Cup defeat to Arsenal. I think that, as a teammate and friend, I would like him to stay for a long time, but I understand that he has doubts.

“If he leaves then Barca lose a player who offers things on and off the pitch”.

He has proven his qualities with good performances both for the club and the national team. We have to respect his decision.
