Usmanov targets star signing and Wenger’s double French — Arsenal Transfer News

Arsenal shareholder Alisher Usmanov believes Arsene Wenger is one signing away from European glory.

The Gunners have made just one signing this summer, Petr Cech from Chelsea, but have been linked with a move for Real Madrid’s Karim Benzema.

In an interview with CNN, Usmanov said: “Except for one position, I think Arsenal are ready to successfully fight for European cups.

Usmanov may get his wish as reports suggest the club will continue to monitor Benzema’s situation.

Madrid boss Rafael Benítez has been insistent the French striker will not be leaving but theGuardian say Wenger is ready to take advantage if an opportunity arrives similar to the Mesut Ozil deal in 2013.

It’s thought Madrid could change their stance if they receive a sizeable offer.
