Tennessee announces it has reinstated WR Von Pearson
Tennessee senior WR Von Pearson has been reinstated to the Tennessee football team, FOX Sports’ Bruce Feldman reports. Pearson’s lawyer, Chris Coffey, didn’t immediately respond to a message seeking comment. A spokeswoman for the university confirmed that Pearson is eligible to re-enroll in fall term classes.
Pearson is the Volunteers’ second-leading returning receiver. The Knoxville Police Department began investigating an allegation of sexual assault at a Fort Sanders apartment complex on April 24. Tennessee coach Butch Jones and Coffey had said that Pearson also was suspended from school.
The Knox County District Attorney General’s Office cleared Pearson on Wednesday, when it announced there was insufficient to move forward with prosecution against Pearson, who was never charged or arrested in connection with the incident.
“The 6’3”, 187-pound receiver from Newport News, Virginia is coming off a 2014 season that saw him record 38 receptions for 393 receiving yards and five touchdowns.
