Who won debate night on social media? That would be Ben Carson

Well said, Ben Carson.

Former neurosurgeon Ben Carson reminded his fellow Republicans Thursday that he is cut from a different presidential cloth than his fellow 2016 hopefuls, noting that he is the only candidate to have separated Siamese twins.

Both Twitter and Facebook said the most talked-about moment on their platforms came between New Jersey Governor Chris Christie and U.S. Senator Rand Paul. Carson says he’s gotten a “phenomenal” response to his performance. “It was very favorably received”.

“I haven’t said anything about me being the only one to do anything, so let me try that”.

Carson, who moved to West Palm Beach a few years ago from Maryland, is one of four Florida residents who will be on the 10-candidate debate stage for tonight’s main event.

Carson will be in Cedar Rapids and Des Moines tomorrow for what his campaign has called “Family Festivals” featuring food and entertainment from a Christian musician. On Sunday morning he’ll speak at a church in Osceola and on Sunday afternoon he’ll hold another “Family Festival” outdoors in Council Bluffs. As of Friday, Carson’s campaign had not bought advertising time on any other Portland-area station.

“Every one of us must fight for it”, Carson said, “because we’re fighting for our children and the next generation”.

The Democratic National Committee announced Thursday that Nevada will host the first of six presidential primary debates for Democrats on October 13.

He also indicated he was disappointed candidates Donald Trump and Jeb Bush got more time to talk than the rest of the field. Carson was in the middle of the pack at roughly seven minutes. “When I finally got some questions, it went well”.

It’s no surprise that Carson has seen his following online spike in the past week, with Facebook followers up 12 percent, Twitter followers up 10 percent and Instagram followers up 37 percent.
