Donald Trump: I want to run as a Republican, not an independent
The group of local Republicans weighed candidates’ performances during a “presidential debate watch party” hosted by the Greenville County GOP at the Global Trade Park off of Fairforest Way. He remained the political phenomenon who can’t be defined, and can’t be shamed.
During the debate, Trump had an intense exchange with Kelly after she questioned him on previous remarks disparaging women.
‘You’ve called women fat pigs’.
Later, Trump wrote on Twitter: “I really enjoyed the debate tonight even though the @foxnews trio, especially @megynkelly, was not very good or professional”. “He’s hitting a nerve”.
“They all have an identical agenda”, said Joel Benenson, Clinton’s chief strategist. But he also said many of those comments should not be taken so seriously and that people need to stop being so politically correct.
Paul aggressively defended his effort to toughen laws against government spying on private citizens.
‘Well, I’ll tell you what, with Hillary Clinton, I said be at my wedding and she came to my wedding.
After some back and forth, Christie said, “Listen, senator, you know, when you’re sitting in a subcommittee, just blowing hot air about this, you can say things like that”. “He was able to get his experience as governor of Florida in most of his answers”.
Texas Sen. Ted Cruz, a champion college debater, was largely forgotten. Ben Carson took some of his extremely limited time on screen to explain how his tax plan was devised by none other than God Himself, “because God is a pretty fair guy”.
But former Florida Governor Jeb Bush and Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker failed to provide their supporters with any stand-out moments. Fox panelist Bret Baier asked him why voters should have any confidence in his ability to manage the U.S. economy given the unhealthy state of New Jersey’s.
Mr Trump was the only one of the 10 candidates on stage to refuse to rule out running as an independent if he fails to win the Republican nomination.
No stranger to controversy, some of Mr Trump’s comments drew gasps – and some boos – from the studio audience in Cleveland, Ohio. Paul interrupted. “This is what’s wrong”, said Paul.
Trump quickly responded: “Only Rosie O’Donnell” – an American comedian, actress, author, and television personality who has often criticised Trump. Because our leaders are stupid. Our politicians are stupid.
Mike Huckabee: “It seems like this election has been a whole lot about a person who is very high in the polls, but doesn’t have a clue about how to govern”.
“I’ve been challenged by so many people and I don’t frankly have time for total political correctness”, he said.
The problem for Trump: He was a star, not a potential commander-in-chief.
Chad Groover, county party chairman, said the Executive Committee would conduct a presidential straw poll every two months.
No one won big Thursday, and no one doomed their campaign.
