Top Gear trio join Amazon for new vehicle show
Clarkson has been an infamous, controversial as well as profit-earning star for BBC and had been on a final warning since last year after he had been accused of using racist language on the show.
Commenting on the announcement Clarkson said: “I feel like I’ve climbed out of a bi-plane and into a spaceship”.
According to Amazon UK’s website, Clarkson, Hammond, and May are “reuniting to create an all-new vehicle show, exclusively for Amazon Prime“.
Clarkson, whose contract was not renewed after he punched a member of the show’s staff during a “fracas”, is teaming up with co-hosts Richard Hammond and James May as well as producer Andy Wilman.
No more details of the deal has been announced by any parties yet, although the three hosts did tweet out the good news from their respective accounts with their trademark irreverent and zany humour. Oh yes. I have already been there.
Jeremy Clarkson was dumped from Top Gear in March following a physical attack on a producer.
James May said: “We have become part of the new age of smart TV. I got bitten by a bullet ant”.
Jay Marine, vice president of Amazon Prime Video EU, said: “Customers told us they wanted to see the team back on screen, and we are excited to make that happen. Apparently they want us to make a vehicle show”.
Amazon is the world’s largest online retailer and Prime, an Internet streaming service similar to Netflix, offers subscribers access to thousands of films and television shows, including original content.
It has since been confirmed Chris Evans is to take over the popular programme, but Jeremy isn’t missing out at it was revealed this morning that he will present with his pals once again on a show for Amazon Prime.
