FX orders new comedy from Louis CK and Pamela Adlon
BEVERLY HILLS, Calif. (AP) – Louis C.K.is taking a break before doing a sixth season of his FX comedy, “Louie“. Viewers will be disappointed to learn that the comedian’s FX series, Louie, is officially on hiatus, but they can comfort themselves with the knowledge that more Louis C.K. shows are on the way. It was announced at FX’s TCA panel on Friday that C.K.is taking a breather similar to the one he took in 2012.
“Gosh, I hope 20 years is the outside date but I think Curb Your Enthusiasm is the right analogy”, he said, referring to the open-ended future of Larry David’s HBO comedy. The comedian is writing, directing and starring in the upcoming indie film I Am A Cop, and “another project” for FX, according to Mr. Landgraf.
Apart from starring, Adlon will serve as an executive producer alongside C.K. Included in the cast are Mikey Madison, Riley Watson, and Olivia Edward as the three daughters, while the first season will consist of 10 episodes.
He has co-created a new comedy, “Better Things,” with frequent collaborator Pamela Adlon.
The series’ log-line is classic C.K.: “What’s it like to be a working woman raising three daughters on her own?”
“It’s really going to be his choice”, Landgraf said of the hiatus’ possible duration.
“Better Things” follows Adlon as a working actor with no filter who is trying to juggle her personal and professional lives. Landgraf says CK “can decide to take a six months … or two year” hiatus.
