Dog dials 911, saves blind owner from house fire
Yolanda may look like an ordinary, lovable dog, but the Red Paw Emergency Relief Team said she is actually a superhero who saved her owner when a house fire broke out in their Philadelphia, PA home Thursday.
On Thursday afternoon, the Red Paw Emergency Relief Team notified their Facebook followers about the special dog’s heroic deed, “Yolanda and her owner were displaced by a fire in #Philly this morning”.
Yolanda managed to call 911, and firefighters rushed to the scene in time to save the woman’s life, according to reports.
NBC 10 reported the fire struck a home in the city’s Holmesburg section while the homeowner was inside.
The fire caused enough damage to displace the owner and pet.
The woman was taken to Nazareth Hospital, where she was treated for smoke inhalation. Her owner fell and was knocked unconscious last year and the dog called 911 in that situation.
Service dogs such as Yolanda often help people with disabilities ranging from the physical to the mental and emotional.
