If I could talk to Dez Bryant, I would tell him, “when God gives you a blessing, it is about others”. If a player goes to the ground in the act of catching a pass (with or without contact by an opponent), he must maintain control of the ball until after his initial contact with the ground, whether in the field of play or the end zone. You can see it. He’s not down on himself if he doesn’t make the play because he knows. Cowboys owner and general manager Jerry Jones said the fight provided a scene he wasn’t sure “could’ve been scripted any better”.

Not long after that, Dez Bryant goes down right in front of us.

The prevailing thought of NFL football is that the season doesn’t start until you have your first training camp fight. He played in 11 games and both of Dallas’ playoff games.

But the scarier situation was not Bryant’s rolling around on the ground with his tight hamstring, but Boatright who appeared to have been injured when he collided with left tackle Tyron Smith and was taken away strapped to a backboard to a hospital. If the Cowboys absolutely, positively need a big return then I think he could (stress could) be back there.

Firstly of coaching camp, the Cowboys stated they needed to ease Bryant into follow after he missed the offseason program as he awaited his five-year, $70 million contract.

Can you really be mad at him for that?

“You want to be good, you’ve got to have those kind of expectation”. In this particular case, the good definitely outweighs the bad.

I sat and tried to think of another athlete that I have ever seen, in my 30 years of watching sports, as emotional as Dez Bryant.

Would you take a player who gets into a few minor incidents but puts up major numbers on the field? He’s grown to be a leader and he sets an example with his attitude.

Bryant later tried to calm Cowboys fans by telling them he’ll be fine.

In 2013, Bryant is flagged for unsportsmanlike conduct vs Minnesota in a game that had no business even being close.

You may remember he was part of a three-anchor team to begin with that featured Frank Reynolds and Max Robinson, with Peter anchoring in London – the brainchild of Roone Arledge at the time, who was asked to take over the news division as well. It means his passion, intensity, and never-back-down attitude is rubbing off on his team.

That energy level and edge was something this team lacked just a couple years ago.
