Man United target rejects £28m Man City move after contract snub
Manchester City target Diego Godin looks set to sign a new contract a matter of days after Manuel Pellegrini’s interest in the player was made public.
The 22-year-old is set to be Atletico’s No. 1 for the 2015/16 campaign; and while they’ll be reluctant to sell, United’s persistence could well pay off.
Atletico had a disappointing season last year and have lost important players this summer in Miranda and Arda Turan. Today, Man Utd are linked with Atletico Madrid keeper Jan Oblak…
De Gea’s omission has intensified speculation that the Spanish stopper will join Real Madrid this summer and it does look increasingly likely that his move to the Bernabeu is a question of when, not if.
Should De Gea leave Old Trafford for Real Madrid, the Red Devils will need to do some shopping around to secure a long-term successor.
Marca reports that Oblak was United’s first choice to replace De Gea, and only after being rejected, the Old Trafford club had signed Sergio Romero.
Elsewhere, Manchester United have been given a huge boost in their bid to land Lazio midfielder Lucas Biglia after the player refused to rule out a move away from Serie A. The 33-year-old has fallen out with van Gaal after not conforming to his “philosophy”.
I personally think United could have had a lucky escape here as although Oblak has plenty of potential, I feel van Gaal should be bringing in a player who’s more established to try and fill De Gea’s boots.
