UFC 190: Ronda Rousey told Bethe Correia ‘don’t cry’ after knockout
Rousey defeated the challenger Bethe Correia in 34 seconds with a vicious knockout courtesy of a right hand to the temple.
The merciless Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) women’s bantamweight champion needed no motivation to silence home-crowd favourite Bethe Correia – hammering her with her fists and knees for just over half a minute until referee John McCarthy called a halt to the action.
Ronda Rousey often has fantasies of her Rocky 4 moment, of marching straight into enemy territory and silencing an arena full of foreigners by taking out their local hero.
Rousey and Correia, both known for their aggressive styles, came forward at the onset.
Tate’s best chance at pulling a stunning upset start with her stopping trying to take Rousey down.
All other opponents that Rousey has faced have never gone beyond the first round, Correia being the latest to join that list. She has finished most of her opponents with her signature armbar, but this time it was her striking force that made the difference. But the thing is, “Cyborg” seems to be hooked up in a lot of complications to make their match materialize. Her win over Correia proved she’s a well-rounded fighter, with an impressive standup game and the poise to succeed in hostile territory.
The UFC has not yet set a date and venue for the Rousey-Tate trilogy fight, although there are reports that it can be held later this year on the same card as the featherweight title showdown between Jose Aldo and Conor McGregor. She can move down to 135 without ’em.
