49ers move forward from release of linebacker Aldon Smith
At the police department they processed Mr. Smith and then he was later transported to Santa Clara County Jail. “There’s no DUI”, Smith told reporters who were waiting for him. There’s no DUI, and I’m sorry for anybody I let down.
The San Jose Mercury News also reported that the San Francisco 49ers were given Thursday off after having five days of practice. Smith was cordial with officers, cooperating fully when asked to administer a field sobriety test and preliminary alcohol screening.
“He did not complete it satisfactorily”, Clarke said.
He was arrested two years ago on drunken driving charges. Smith told a TSA agent that he had a bomb, but no charges were filed for this incident.
Smith will be arraigned in court on October 6. The incident involving Smith happened at the 500 block of Moreland Avenue.
Smith, the No 7 pick in the 2011 NFL Draft, has registered 44 quarterback sacks in 50 games since he joined the 49ers, although his sack rate has tailed off dramatically in recent seasons. After Smith refused to take responsibility for his arrest, Baalke made the decision to release the linebacker.
“It’s a sad day”. This is a day that doesnt have anything to do about football..
“If one person out there reads this and you’re struggling, get help”, Tomsula said emphatically. For a player and man that had past issues with addiction, something like that could be looked at as a possible trigger.
When news began circling the locker room, Tomsula said that the mood in the room was “unique”. Sadness for a guy.
They couldn’t save him and the idea of “saving” him was a ridiculous rationalization, anyway-York and Baalke wanted Smith to sack the quarterback for the 49ers, that’s what it amounted to, and they explained their reasoning with tedious proclamations of “support” and “caring” for their former All-Pro LB. “Deeply”.
“Yeah, I heard about it”, Miller said of Smith’s release. If anything, PFT, thinks he will have to worry about not serving jail time after his latest run-in with the law. Smith’s replacement probably will be Aaron Lynch or Ahmad Brooks. He had two sacks in seven games after returning from his suspension last season.
Milliner, who suffered an Achilles injury last October, recently returned to team activities in training camp.
“Aldon’s like any young player, he’s growing up, he’s maturing”. He’s growing up, he’s maturing. “Really pleased with the way he’s handled things, the way he’s working both personally and professionally”.
Thursday night’s arrest erased that optimism.
Police said Friday that at 8:46 p.m., Smith collided with a parked vehicle while parking his auto, then caused further damage to the parked vehicle with his auto door.
“For me, it’s more about helping”, Lott said.
