Patriots RB Blount suffers MCL sprain
Blount went down in Thursday’s training camp practice.
Blount suffered a sprained MCL in his right knee during Friday’s training camp session, the Boston Globe’s Shalise Manza Young reports.
LeGarrette Blount has been diagnosed with a sprained right MCL, but is expected to be ready for Week 1. A non-injury issue will keep Blount out of the first game.
Blount, who will have to serve a one-game suspension to start the upcoming season, projects to be New England’s premiere back in 2015. He was on the ground for several minutes being attended to by trainers before walking off under his own power, but with a noticeable limp. He ran for 148 yards and three touchdowns on 30 carries in the 45-7 victory over the Indianapolis Colts in the AFC Championship game. Bolden, entering his fourth year in the NFL and with the Pats, has never carried the ball more than 56 times.
