Google Maps for iOS makes driving at night easier
Apple, the tech company giant, enabled an update to the Google Maps for iOS app, which would make it easier to navigate when it’s dark outside, diminishing risks of using the app while driving.
Google Maps has always been stronger than Apple Maps when it comes to mapping and public transport directions – but Apple actually had night mode for its maps app well before Google.
In previous versions, users would have to turn down their brightness options on their iPhones.
The Night Mode will get activated on its own only during night time and not simply when it’s turned dark inside the room.
Things quickly changed when Google introduced its Maps for the iOS, which have been in use ever since. The idea that this could improve your night vision and your eyes will no longer have to adjust as you switch between the bright display and the darker road.
However, it is not a major enhancement, it primarily includes a whole lot of new and interesting features like to be able to tag places to see them on your map and the search suggestions that allow you to edit the captions of your uploaded photos to Google Maps.
Night Mode is now live on iOS and, furthermore, on Android devices for quite a while now.
But clearly, the standout feature – and one users have been asking about for years – is Night Mode. The feature is also based on the time of the day, rather than on how much light there really is around the user.
It is also only available in the turn-by-turn navigation mode, and not the default maps interface.
