Trump on Megyn Kelly: She had ‘blood coming out of her wherever’
The organizer of the Red State Gathering of conservative activists said Saturday he “dis-invited” Donald Trump from his event because of indecent comments about Fox News anchor Megyn Kelly. “It just was wrong”, he said.
“This is just another example of weakness through being politically correct”. Late Friday night, RedState founder Erick Erickson announced that he has withdrawn Trump’s invitation to appear at the annual RedState Gathering here in Atlanta.
Erickson said he initially approached Trump’s campaign about the Kelly statement and that “they wouldn’t deny” it was a reference to menstruation.
On launching his campaign for the US Republican presidential nomination Trump managed to upset an entire nation of Mexicans. “Blood coming out of her wherever”, Trump recalled of Kelly during the debate, in what was widely interpreted as a sexist attack against her.
Trump’s Kelly criticism infuriated a number of prominent conservatives, however, during a Friday night CNN interview.
In an interview with CNN, Mr Trump said: “She gets out and she starts asking me all sorts of ridiculous questions”.
When it was announced that Donald Trump was running for president, it looked like it might be the end of the road for him. When Kelly said Trump’s comments had gone beyond O’Donnell and asked about his use of such insults on Twitter, Trump replied that he didn’t “have time for total political correctness”.
“Only Rosie O’Donnell”, Trump interrupted.
This morning, Trump tweeted that he was sorry to have missed the chance to hang out with voters still attracted to his brand of campaigning – which is generally disliked by a majority of the American public. In a series of tweets (see below), he claimed that Kelly had treated him unfairly throughout the debate before dismissing findings from polster Luntz Global.
Thursday, the former Hewlett-Packard CEO took another step toward a spot on the Republican presidential ticket: She went toe to toe with six more-seasoned politicians in the first of the two GOP debates on Fox News and stole the show. But those conversations were before reports of Trump’s “blood” comment; both reports of Trump’s words and Erickson’s reaction happened while many attendees were asleep.
Kelly also mentioned that Trump had once told a contestant on NBC’s Celebrity Apprentice it would be a pretty picture to see her on her knees. “Little (at)MacMiller, I’m now going to teach you a big boy lesson about lawsuits and finance”.
Conservative group RedState said Mr Trump was implying she was hormonal.
