Bryant scuffles with teammate
Did quarterback Tony Romo bake crownies and have them waiting for his teammates upon their arrival Oxnard? Bryant and cornerback Tyler Patmon had to be separated after exchanging wild punches during drills.
Dallas tight end Jason Witten downplayed the fight. And that scorn was amplified late last week, as Bryant got into a heated argument with second-year cornerback Tyler Patmon during 11-on-11 practice.
And Romo says there’s a reason for the more-measured version of Bryant, who used Twitter for most of his warnings about staying away without a long-term contract.
“I’m glad that it got done”, Bryant said. “And at the end of the day, we shook hands, we hugged and we respect one another”.
For Cowboys fans anxious there might be tension already, there’s no need to fret. He stated he caught footage of it on tv. “That’s been occurring at our coaching camp for years and years and years”.
Darren McFadden (from Oakland to Dallas): McFadden, in his eighth season, didn’t play in a full 16 games until last season.
Each gamers went to Oklahoma State.
For his part, Patmon told DallasCowboys.com it was just a case of two brothers fighting. “Brothers struggle. That occurs typically”. “We got at it. We squashed it. It’s over”.
Bryant, days removed from talking about the growth and maturity that led to his huge payday, bristled at the notion that he remains a focal point because of several sideline incidents.
But Bryant is being Dez Bryant, which also means he’ll have plenty of the passion tonic when the regular season starts.
Apparently unhappy with how Patmon was playing him at the line of scrimmage, Bryant had to be restrained by teammates as he continued to go after Patmon even after the initial swing, even tossing his mouthguard at him.
But something happened this weekend that made my search to make sense of it all a little more clear. Not everything has been as smooth as it has been but it will come, especially as Bryant gets back into playing every day.
Clearly, Bryant isn’t the type to take an easy paycheck and push the 9-5 work day off. “This type of stuff occurs”. “He’s fighting for respect and he got mine”. “He had a lot to do with this, and I just wish he was here so I can give him credit”. “It’s actually good for the workforce”.
Patmon said he considers the scuffle water under the bridge and is moving on.
Certainly, you really don’t want that, but at the same time, you do love the energy level and the edge this team seems to have right now.
