Tributes after death announced of Neville Neville the dad of former Everton
The Manchester Evening News has said that Mr Neville, 65, collapsed in Australia after travelling to the country with his daughter Tracey, the England netball head coach, for the sport’s World Cup.
Tracey will remain with the England team in Australia for the duration of the World Cup.
“Bury FC will pay tribute to Neville in due course and we ask everyone to allow the Neville family the time to grieve privately at this exceptionally sad time”.
Everyone at Manchester United sends their condolences to the Neville family.
Prior to his involvement with football, where he supported his sons, and was a director at Bury FC, Neville Neville played league cricket so the sad news of his heart attack has impacted many in the sports world including football, netball and cricket, where he will be sadly missed.
England Netball’s statement said: “England Netball is saddened to announce that Neville Neville, father of head coach Tracey, passed away at hospital in Sydney”.
The club said in a statement posted on Facebook that their “thoughts and prayers” were with Mr Neville.
The Neville brothers, who spent a combined 29 years playing for United, were believed to be at their father’s bedside when he passed away.
The website of Forever Bury, a fans’ group that sprang up out of those desperate times, says: “Neville tirelessly organised supporters’ groups, gave media interviews, worked closely with the administrators and finally arranged a deal which would ultimately save the Shakers from extinction”.
“Such a lovely man & great character”.
Neville Neville, father of Gary, Phil and Tracey, has died after suffering a heart attack in Australia.
He went on to express “deeepest condolences” to Mr Neville’s wife Jill, the club’s secretary, and her family.
