Josh Trank slams Fox for the Fantastic Four criticisms
In the waning days of summer, Fox’s “Fantastic Four” has so far grossed $11.3 million, putting the poorly reviewed superhero movie on track for a $28-million weekend. While 20th Century Fox has never outright confirmed this to be fact, Trank’s dismissal from the forthcoming Star Wars spin-off certainly offered damning evidence.
“Perhaps the movie looks better through Reed Richards’ beer goggles?”
There Reed he meets Storm’s son and daughter, Johnny and Sue. Similarly, there’s a sobering acknowledgement that their powers have come at great cost, when Reed asks Ben if it hurts and he growls, “I’ve gotten used to it”.
While the full story may never be known, much has been made of the behind the scenes drama that riddled the film’s production. This is a film that uses most of its economy up front, during the origin, and we don’t have any progress in the film’s opening act until a wide swath of its run time is already over.
The film is short and needs something more.
Heroic Hollywood captured a tweet that Josh Trank wrote earlier today responding to the scathing reviews that movie received.
“‘Fantastic Four’ attempts something unique for most of its runtime, before going fully off the rails with an unbelievably awkward final act, featuring the four versus a Doom you can’t love or loathe, because he comes right out of nowhere”, and excerpt from Josh Wigler of Digital Trends’s review read.
Trank took to his official Twitter account to tell his fans and followers, “A year ago I had a fantastic version of this”. “Our own Chris Bumbray was not impressed with what he saw, giving the film a 3/10 and saying it’s “…like a generic TV pilot for a show you wouldn’t want to watch”. As it is Fantastic Four is merely a recreation of the first 20th Century Fox version with a darker vision and a lot of the same flaws.
