Markakis leads Braves to 6-3 win over Marlins

Again on Thursday night, amidst a rainy contest against the division rival Miami Marlins in a close game, Adonis Garcia hit a 2-run home-run to give the Atlanta Braves an 8-5 lead.

Fernandez will look to continue that dominance and provide something positive after Miami starters posted an 11.05 ERA and failed to complete five innings during the current four-game skid.

The right-hander has lasted at least seven innings in seven of his last 11 starts, including Sunday when he yielded two runs and struck out seven without a walk during a 6-2 win at Philadelphia. It was the second time he allowed nine hits this year.

Before his exit, Teheran would do a great job limiting the damage as he forced a groundout to third and recorded a strikeout to keep the runner from scoring.

Julio Teheran (7-6, 4.59) is 1-0 with a 2.13 ERA in four home starts against the Marlins, and also 1-0 with a 1.54 ERA in two matchups this season – both at Miami. Atlanta ranks in the bottom half at 16th with 303. Ross Detwiler came on to face Dee Gordon who grounded to first and beat Terdoslavich’s throw allowing Hechavarria to score to give Miami the lead.

“He has flown back to Miami to see Dr. Kaplan”, manager Dan Jennings said. That’s when more craziness ensued. With the bases loaded, Castro hit a ground ball to third. Foltynewicz (RHP) will be on the hill against the Marlins, who have a 34-52 record against right-handed starting pitchers.
