Conservative Gathering Disinvites Trump After Megyn Kelly Quips
The first Republican debate was held in Cleveland Thursday night and aired on Fox News, and while there were 10 Republican presidential candidates in attendance, Donald Trump’s controversial comments put all eyes on him.
“She is a lightweight”. He told the rival cable-news network, “You could see there was blood coming out of her eyes. Blame Erick Erickson, your weak and pathetic leader”.
The comment was the final straw for RedState host Erick Erickson, who tweeted early Saturday that he tried to give Trump “a great deal of latitude” in his presidential run. But there are even lines blunt talkers and unprofessional politicians should not cross.
“His comment was inappropriate”, he wrote. “It is unfortunate to have to disinvite him”, he continued. “It just was wrong”, he said.
Real estate tycoon Donald Trump escalated his war with Fox News during a Friday evening appearance on CNN, hurling a shock insult at Megyn Kelly.
Trump has called O’Donnell a “fat pig”, a “slob” and an “animal”, according to several published reports.
In response, Trump’s campaign issued the following statement: “This is just another example of weakness through being politically correct”.
As we boldly predicted in our Florida GOP Debate Drinking Game, Trump went on to declare himself the victor of the debate and retweeted his horde of supporters who concurred with this opinion.
If last night’s Fox-Facebook Republican debate proved one thing, it’s that Donald Trump has no qualms about insulting women based off their looks and personality.
Trump was expected to address RedState attendees on Saturday. “I wanted to have him here as a legitimate candidate, but no legitimate candidate suggests a female asking questions does so because she’s hormonal”. “That the first reaction of a candidate for president, when you get a tough question from a lady, is well, it must be her time of the month – and that was the clear implication, despite what they’re now saying – is kind of insane, actually”.
A later statement from his campaign said “only a deviant” would think Mr Trump meant anything else.
Walker also joined the fray Saturday, tweeting, “I agree with @CarlyFiorina, there’s no excuse for Trump’s comments”.
Perry said he was also glad to see former Hewlett Packard CEO and fellow Texan Carly Fiorina getting into the presidential race. “Little (at)MacMiller, I’m now going to teach you a big boy lesson about lawsuits and finance”.
“Mr. Trump is touching a nerve”, said Ohio Governor John Kasich, “because people want the wall to be built”.
