HBO Now, Travel Channel, and Food Network Now Streaming on Google Chromecast
The latest version of the HBO Now app for iOS has already been updated with Chromecast support, and the Android counterpart is sure to be landing at some point today. HBO Now was first launched on iOS devices including the iPhone and iPad earlier this year, and quickly gained popularity, followed by its arrival on Android only a few weeks ago. You can stream to Chromecast from Android or iOS devices.
The app offering on Google Chromecast just got even better. That’s a great deal for fans of HBO programming.
A universal app designed for the iPhone/iPod touch and iPad/iPad mini, HBO Now can be downloaded now on the App Store for free.
Also new for the HBO Now app on both platforms are notifications, keeping users in the know on episodes of their favorite shows. To fire up an HBO movie or show, one just needs to tap on the Chromecast cast icon and select the Chromecast option. True, limitations remain. HBO Now still isn’t available outside the United States, nor is it available on Roku, another popular streaming device.
Other new apps include a couple games in the form of FitFlap and PhraseBlitz, as well as a mixed bag of others.
Chromecast adds streaming support for HBO Now and along with that it has also added support for Food Network, Travel Channel, Pokemon TV and interactive games from publishers like BreakFirst and MediaMonks.
