Kerala to name Technological University after Dr A P J Abdul Kalam
The two houses of Parliament were adjourned for two days as a mark of respect to Kalam as political parties gratefully recalled his contributions to the nation.
During the period of state mourning, the national flag will fly at half-mast on all buildings throughout the country where it is flown regularly and there will be no official entertainment. He said they met several times when he was in office and that he was touched by Dr Abdul Kalam’s “wisdom and candour”.
Kalam was born in Rameswaram on October 15, 1931 and died in Shillong on Monday after suffering a cardiac arrest during a lecture at the Indian Institute of Management.
China also paid rich tributes to former President APJ Abdul Kalam, terming him an influential Indian politician and active promoter of Sino-Indian friendship.
Sonia Gandhi, the president of opposition Congress party, described Kalam as “one of the greatest scientific minds, a scholar statesman and a true patriot who inspired millions of young and old alike by his works and deeds”.
Initially kalam was started his career as scientist and slowly turned in to politics and payed his efforts to give best to the country with honest and encouragement.

Leaders from all over the world like Malaysia’s Prime Minister Najib Razak, former Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono and Singapore’s Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong also added their condolences via social media.
Rameswaram is the People’s President’s native town, where he’ll receive his last rites, on Thursday. Instead, she had deputed ministers O Panneerselvam (finance), Natham R Viswanathan (electricity), R Vaithialingam (housing), Edapadi K Palaniswamy (highways), P Palaniappan (higher education), S Sundararaj (youth welfare and sports) and R B Udayakumar (revenue) to attend the funeral. He remained and served the nation as a scientist for nearly 40 years mainly at the Defence Research and Development Organization (DRDO) and Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO).
He played a crucial role when India tested its nuclear weapons in 1998.
