Failed medical cost Boateng Sporting move
Lisbon, August 6 Sporting Lisbon has withdrawn from the deal to sign Ghanaian global Kevin-Prince Boateng at the last minute over a disagreement about the distribution of the player’s image rights.
The Bundesliga club banned the Ghana global indefinitely towards the end of last season after suffering a shock 2-0 league defeat at Cologne, with the 28-year-old rumoured to have been a big problem within the squad.
The annual kicker survey voted for by 183 German top-flight players, Kevin-Prince Boateng finished third with Mario Gotze and Dutch playmaker, Rafael van der Vaart second and first respectively.
However, Sporting confirmed on Wednesday that talks had fallen through due to failing to agree personal terms.
But it announced on its Facebook page that “after negotiations, it was not possible to reach an agreement relating to his image rights”.
Boateng had appeared set to sign a two-year contract at the Estadio Jose Alvalade.
