Sean Price, Of Heltah Skeltah, Dead At 43
Duck Down had announced earlier this month that they’d release his next mixtape, Songs in the Key of Price, on August 21.
Sean Price, who turned 43 in March of this year, was a beloved rap artist.
According to reports, Price died suddenly Saturday morning in his sleep at his home in Brooklyn. “He’s survived by his wife, and his three children”, a rep for Price said in a statement.
The Hip-Hop and music community is saddened to learn that Sean Price has died.
While the cause of Sean Price’s death has not been confirmed, condolences are already pouring in all over social media.
The music industry has lost another great one. He was also a member of the underground supergroup Random Axe, which consisted of himself, Guilty Simpson and Black Milk. Sean was one-half of the hip-hop group Heltah Skeltah, along with Jahmal Bush. Sean and rapper Ill Bill were reportedly working on a album together titled The Pill. It is at that time that the Brownsville, Brooklyn native changed his name to that on his birth certificate, and basked in self-deprecation, humor, and some of the most critically-acclaimed compound-bar-structured verses of his career. Heltah Skeltah teamed with Method Man and Tha Dogg Pound. His last album, Mic Tyson, dropped in 2012.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to Sean’s family and friends during this hard time.
