Ledecky smashes another record, Boyle takes silver
Katie Ledecky, the 18-year-old American, rallied to win the 200-meter freestyle at the world championships in Kazan, Russia, on Wednesday night, beating a stellar field that included defending champion Missy Franklin of the United States and two-time victor Federica Pellegrini of Italy.

Ledecky s exploits came after South Africa s Cameron van der Burgh had broken the men s 50m breaststroke record in the morning s heats, only to see Britain s Adam Peaty swim a new record of 26.42secs in the evening s semi.
“My legs felt like jello before the 200m semi-final, I was surprised because I hardly used my legs during the 1500m”.
“My plan was to break the world record in the semifinals because there is always more pressure in the final“, Sjostrom said. All have come in the past two years and five of them have bettered her own marks. Although Le Clos made one final surge, Cseh did enough to post the year’s world-leading time of 1:53.48 and hold off the Olympic champion by 0.20 seconds.

“It was a lot easier than the 1500m, it just didn’t hurt as much and I knew I could put it all together”, said Ledecky who hopes to add the 800m title on Saturday. But her voice dropped out from time to time, her mouth going still. She was fifth in the 100 backstroke.
Ledecky (L) and Missy Franklin will join forces for the women’s 4X200m freestyle relay.
Ledecky entered Wednesday having never lost a race in a major worldwide meet. She had lapped three swimmers by the time she clocked in at a time of 15:27.71, for her eighth world record in two years. “Credit to him, he finished strong, and that’s the way he won the race”.
Larkin, 22, claimed his first world title while Seebohm bounced back from dislocating her knee in a riding accident in May to win her first individual world title. “I thought that I had to choose to swim really well in the butterfly final or swim okay in the medley”. Gemmell met her there and avoided asking about her condition, because he was scared of what he might hear.
Per OlympicTalk, Phelps went on to praise Ledecky after the interview concluded.
She hit the first turn in third place and was in fourth at the halfway point. She dipped a hundredth of a second lower than her mark a day earlier while finishing 1.41 seconds ahead of Denmark’s Jeanette Ottesen. But Heemskerk inexplicably faded, dropping a full second in the final lap, while Ledecky and Pellegrini, in fourth entering the final 50, surged. “To touch my hand on the wall first and be world champion, it hasn’t sunk in yet, but I’m so happy”.
Higher generally known as a distance specialist, Ledecky was competing within the 200 free for the primary time on the worlds. Over the next year she will train for, and likely dominate, the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio. “I was able to go out with the field”.
She and Franklin had tight turnarounds, with both women coming back to swim the 200 free semifinals.
