Four Dead After Plane Crash in Northern New York
He didn’t know whether the plane was taking off or landing when it went down.
The names of the two couples had not been released Saturday pending notification of family.
National Transportation Safety Board investigators are releasing more information about a plane crash in Lake Clear that killed four people.
In March 2013, another small plane went down while approaching the Lake Placid Municipal Airport, but all three men aboard escaped with only minor cuts and bruises. “With a fire it always makes it harder, because that consumes some evidence”.
Sergeant Megan Zabel said officers were called to an area near a convalescent home on Friday night where they confronted a suspect and shot him dead.
He says the plane was registered to someone in the Rochester area.
State forest rangers helped at the crash scene in the woods near the Lake Clear airport.
State Police Aviation located the downed aircraft approximately one half mile northwest of the airport and Troopers and Investigators responded to the crash site and found the aircraft completely destroyed.
The Franklin County Sheriff told the AP that it appeared as though the plane was almost vertical when it crashed. The FAA stated it was examining; the NTSB didn’t instantly return an email.
State police and other agencies are investigating the cause of the crash and identifying those on board.
