Texas police: 5 children, 3 adults found dead inside home
Deputies discovered the bodies of five children and three adults in a Houston area home after a standoff with a suspect, who was holed up in the house, ended early Sunday.
Sheriff deputies went to the home on a welfare check at about 9 p.m. on Saturday, Sullivan said.
A high-risk operations unit was called to the scene and upon their arrival, they surrounded the home. Deputies pulled back, and the man surrendered about an hour later.
Police have not provided any information as to how the people died and their relationships were not known yet.
“Homicide detectives have taken over the operation along with our crime scene unit”. No further details were released. By late Sunday morning, authorities had begun removing bodies from the home. Officials say more information will be given at a news conference set for 3 p.m.
“At this time we have what appears to be five children and three adults”, said Thomas Gilliland, spokesman for the sheriff’s office.
When the officers arrived at the home located in Fallbrook at Veterans Memorial, they determined that a man who resides there has warrants out for his arrest.
“Cops were walking around with their handguns out, telling people to remain in their houses”.
Cartagena said he heard one gunshot but wasn’t sure if there were more.
She says, “It was shocking”. That is when the body of a boy was seen through the window. “I haven’t slept all night”.
Negotiators talked him into coming out, and arrested him, Gilliland said.
