Louis C.K. planning on taking another break from FX’s ‘Louie’
This is C.K.’s second hiatus from his acclaimed comedy series, with the first lasting two years between the show’s third and fourth seasons. FX CEO John Landgraf made the announcement during the network’s executive session. “After writing, directing, starring in and mostly editing 61 episodes of television”, Landgraf explained, “he’s anxious to take a break from the show and work on other things”.
This will be the second time CK has taken a hiatus from his show, but he’s pretty busy with a lot of other projects-including, apparently, navigating the byzantine world of municipal finances. It’s really going ot be his choice.
“Louie” wrapped its eight-episode Season 5 on May 28.
In addition to Better Things, C.K.is also working on Baskets, yet another upcoming FX comedy, which will star Zach Galafianakis. The stand-up comic, actor, director and editor will be pushing himself as a producer on three new series at FX. Adlon and C.K. wrote the pilot, which was directed by C.K. The 10-episode first season will be produced by C.K.’s production company Pig Newton for FX Productions. Better Things’ premise has similarities to the comedian’s real life: She’ll play Sam, a mother of three who’s also trying to make a living as an actress.
The running back appears on a beach with Jon Lajoie’s character, Taco, in the seventh season opener, which airs September 9 at 10 p.m. EDT.
Lynch argues that if the beer is handed to him, he can simply run the beer over to Taco’s brother. “The truth is I really don’t know. He’s a little bit occupied right now”, joked Jeff Schaffer, the show’s co-creator.
“The League” is a partly improvised comedy about a group of friends who have a fantasy football league.
