Gaston County Shooting: Five Shot, Including Two Police Officers
Two people have died and three others – including two police officers – have been injured in a shooting in North Carolina.

In all, five people were shot, authorities said. A woman in another location was also shot but sustained minor injuries. Between four and seven officers returned fire, killing the suspect, reported WBTV, the Observer’s news partner.
A number of officers rushed to the neighborhood around 9:30 p.m. Saturday after getting several 911 calls about a man shot to death and another man still in the area with a gun, the assistant chief said.
Police are not saying the relationship between the victims and the shooter, but a family member told WBTV’s Coleen Harry the gunman and the woman who was wounded were in an on again off again relationship.
Two officers were shot in their “lower extremities” and are reportedly alert and talking at the CaroMont Regional Medical Center in Gastonia.
No names have been released.
“I know for the past 18 months, police have been under the microscope”, Ramey said.
County Commissioner Tracy Philbeck tweeted, asking the public to keep the officers in their prayers. “They acted professional in this incident here and we’ll get to the bottom of this”.
