Year-old Braylon Beam gets opportunity to coach Carolina Panthers at team’s
That was exactly the case Friday night, when Cam Newton and other members of the Carolina Panthers performed the dance with 6-year-old Braylon Beam. The Lincoln County boy served as Honorary Head Coach through the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
Braylon Beam took charge of pre-season practice, became a darling of the media, gave the team’s star quarterback some tips, and capped everything off with a dance.
While on the show, he told DeGeneres his goal was to one day coach his home-state Panthers.
A clause in Braylon’s contract required him to show off his legendary dance moves before the end of his coaching career, according to General Manager Dave Gettleman. Beam even did his own version of Newton’s trademark touchdown celebration, which ended up getting a huge cheer from the 55,000 strong crowd in attendance.
Prowling the sidelines for Carolina was Braylon Beam, a rising first-grader from Denver, N.C., who is undergoing treatment at Presbyterian Hospital in Charlotte for a brain tumor. During the interview, Beam said his dream was to one day coach his favorite team: The Carolina Panthers.
Beam’s story has been drawing the identical sort of response across the nation since he appeared on “The Ellen DeGeneres Present” two months in the past to inform about his #JustKeepDancing marketing campaign.
Asked how his franchise quarterback looked, Beam said: “Great”.
“Not letting an bad thing ruin your life because it can so easily be done – and having a positive out look on everything – we all can learn from that”, his dad, Jesse, said.
So after practice, Braylon was more than happy to make good on the deal.
