Vols Reinstate Von Pearson
The Tennessee wideout was suspended from the program and Tennessee, after allegations were made that he was involved in an act of sexual assault last April.
Tennessee announced on the football team’s official Twitter account Friday afternoon that Pearson had been reinstated. Pearson, who wasn’t wearing pads in accordance with NCAA acclamation rules, went through drills with the punt return specialists and the receivers, and he didn’t show too much rust during the moments we saw.
Tennessee has reinstated senior wide receiver Von Pearson, the team announced on Friday. To his credit, he’s in very good shape, you could tell that with the football endurance. “So we’ll know a little bit more when he’s able to put the pads on and finish the acclimation period, but for what I can see of the work he got in today, I was very pleased with his endurance”.
“Von’s the old Von”, added teammate and fellow wide receiver Josh Smith. “I think it’s fun to have him back, so I’m excited”. “Von did a very good job of taking the mental reps that he needed, but also our players talking with him with the new things and the new installs”.
With the charges dropped, Pearson will have an opportunity to re-enroll in classes – he was suspended from the university as well – and rejoin the Vols on the field.
Pearson had 38 catches for 393 yards and a team-high five touchdowns.
