Fiery crash kills four
Four people have died, including three teenagers from northern Virginia, when a wrong-way driver triggered a collision on a North Texas interstate. Texas Department of Public Safety Trooper Kyle Bradford says two other teens in the SUV were hospitalized after the crash.
An 18-wheel tractor-trailer that came upon the accident could not stop in time and slammed into the SUV and the wrong-way driver’s auto, WTVR reported, and both vehicles caught fire.
Friends, alumni, staff and other members of the community offered condolences to the victims’ families on the Herndon High School band Facebook page, which identified the teens as former members.
The man in the Mercury and his dog were also killed. Two teens were transported and listed in critical condition. Hannah Galbraith, 18, was critically injured.
They were identified Friday as 18-year-old Holly Novak, 19-year-old Dale Neibaur and 19-year-old Kyle Mathers.
The five teens were taking a road trip from Virginia to Austin, Texas, in the SUV, media reports stated.
