Bound flight lands in Indianapolis after mechanical issue
United Express Flight 5919 was headed from Charlotte, North Carolina, to Illinois when it suddenly plummeted and was diverted to Indianapolis global Airport shortly after 8 a.m. Sunday morning, officials said.
The flight then landed in Indianapolis, where a few of the flights 50 passengers were checked out by medical personnel. There were no injuries.
‘Some passengers were complaining of headaches and ear problems so they diverted to Indianapolis, ‘ Jeff Dutton, Communications Manager at Indianapolis Airport Authority, said.
“This was the scariest 10 minutes of my life”, passenger Robin Jones told KTSU-TV after arriving at the Salt Lake worldwide Airport on Saturday. Nobody was hospitalized, and passengers have been taken to Chicago by way of bus.
“The focus at that point was changing altitude as safely and as quickly as possible”, said Beem. He says the FAA will follow up with the airport to determine the cause of the pressurization problem.
