Nawaz Sharif leaves on three-day visit to Belarus
Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Monday left for Belarus on a landmark three-day official visit.
It will be the first ever visit of any Pakistani Prime Minister to Belarus, Foreign office said yesterday. Federal Ministers Rana Tanvir Hussain, Pervez Rashid and special assistant to PM Tariq Fatimi accompanies Nawaz Sharif.
Prime Minister Sharif will have one-on-one meeting with Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko followed by delegation-level talks.
Minister for Commerce Engr Khurram Dastgir was already sent to Minsk to complete homework ahead of the landmark visit.
A number of important agreement and MoUs, aimed at enhancing the bilateral trade and economic activity between the two states, are expected to be signed during the visit.
It was further apprised that Nawaz Sharif will be conferred upon the title of honorary professor by Belarus State University.
PM Nawaz will also participate in the Pakistan-Belarus Business and Investment Forum and is scheduled to visit several Belarusian industrial units.
His visit also coincides with the hosting of a mango festival and screening of a Pakistani film in Belarus, aimed at strengthening the people to people contacts.
