Sukhbir Singh flees after being held at Karachi airport
Indian pop singer Sukhbir Singh on Sunday fled from the Lahore airport after authorities found $27,000 in his luggage, the media reported.
Sukhbir Singh is the top Bhangra singer, who is popularly known as, the prince of Bhangra. Sukhbir reached the Allama Iqbal global Airport at 11.30 am to catch a Dubai-bound flight. Somehow, he gave a slip to the officials and disappeared from the airport.
The Indian artist touched base here to perform at the wedding service of the grandson of a nearby partner of killed previous Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto. “On discovering that reasonable farthest point is United States dollars 10,000, he cleared out the air terminal as he had more than USD 10,000”, the authority said.
Previously, Pakistani model Ayyan Ali was arrested from Islamabad airport on charges of money laundering while boarding a flight to Dubai.
Indian news channel NDTV reports that before check-in Singh asked the authorities how much amount he could carry overseas. He also informed that Sukhbir was in Pakistan to perform at a music concert. “He was there for the past few days and had to return to Dubai today(Sunday), he safely boarded the flight for Dubai”.
