Corey Stoll Gets a New Look on ‘The Strain’
Eph makes his way into the train, unfortunately Dr. Ben Barnes is one of the passengers. Ret and Dutch offer to help the military police as soon as they hear about the “spider” kids. The feeler attacks one officer and is able to escape. The feelers retreat to the roof where they find Kelly, who then comforts them by creepily humming to them before the opening credits roll. In the latest episode, “Quick and Painless”, Eph gets out the scissors, Abraham continues his search for the Occido Lumen, and Zach is still a wanna-be “TWD” Carl pain in the butt. He does so by cutting off all his hair. Eph has nowhere to run, and he’ll now have to deal with the police.
Well, Eph is going to take the cure/infection he and Nora have created to Washington, D.C., but with Eph still in the news after escaping custody, a different look might help him avoid attention.
Once Eph believes Barnes has been knocked out, he opens the door to the train to jump out – but finds nothing to land on.
Eph, with his newly shaved head, effectively passes security through a government-only access system, and boards a train to Washington. He tell him he needs to let him get by so he can stop the plague. Knowing that Barnes will give him away to the cops, Eph throws him off the train. A fight breaks out between the two. Barnes tries to talk Eph down, asking him to trust him.
In the train on his way to Washington, Eph bumps into his former boss at the CDC, Barnes.
The train arrives in D.C., although many are questioning where the Secretary of Health is. On his way back “home”, Abraham learns that Fitzwilliam is following him.
Fet, Dutch, and the military police at the center of Red Hook.
At the police station, Nora and Dutch find councilwoman Justine Faraldo attempting to calm a crowd of people who need to be diagnosed. Nora sees an opportunity here and tells Feraldo she can show her how to determine if people are infected within one or two hours, but she must free Fet.
I’ll get to the other scenes in a bit.
Our weekly vamp-action is provided courtesy of Fet and Dutch consulting with the NYPD to offer help clearing an apartment building of the vampires, which could become an interesting worldbuilding moment in which Fet and Chief have a dick-measuring contest over the best ways to kill these creatures, though the NYPD see direct results of using silver against them.
Nora shows Feraldo how to use a blue light to look for worms crawling around under people’s skin to see if they’ve been infected. Feraldo then makes the hard decision of killing her nephew by an injection before he turns. During Palmer’s dinner date with his assistant. he discovers the ancient book may be turning up soon. Will he get to it before Setrakian?
The end of the episode features a mysterious new character. The pilot says that “it was an emergency” and that “their client was sick”. Hopefully episode 6 of “The Strain” will have these answers…
