Rangers sign ex-Kings center Jarret Stoll
The New York Rangers have agreed to a one-year deal with free-agent forward Jarret Stoll, the team announced Monday.
Also the boyfriend of television personality Erin Andrews, Stoll was charged with felony cocaine possession stemming from an arrest in Las Vegas on April 17. Terms of the contract were not revealed, but Sportsnet reported it’s a one-year, $800,000 contract.
Still with a need at center and with very little salary-cap room, the Rangers are hoping a second chance might save the day. He pleaded guilty to two reduced misdemeanor charges to resolve the case.
The 6-foot-1, 215-pound Stoll has played in the Stanley Cup Final in three different seasons during his career and he captured the Stanley Cup twice as a member of the Los Angeles Kings (2011-12 and 2013-14). Kevin Hayes, who showed plenty of promise at center but is probably a better natural winger, will likely shift to the outside and play among the team’s top six forwards. The National Hockey League has already said that there will be no further sanctions against Stoll.
Stoll has 140 goals and 379 points in 792 regular-season games with the Oilers and Kings.
Stoll has also been dating FOX sideline reporter Erin Andrews.
