Fiorina moves to cash in on strong debate performance
Turning his horns on another female critic, front-running GOP presidential candidate ripped surging Republican challenger Carly Fiorina, claiming she has “zero chance” of winning and is somebody who gives him “a massive headache”. “So I’ll say it, OK?” However he drew applause at times, including when he said, “I think the big problem this country has is being politically correct”.
Joining the parade of A-list candidates speaking at the conference, Fiorina reserved most of her half-hour slot to take questions from the standing-room-only crowd. She pointed to the recent announcement by Netflix that the company would be providing up to a year of paid parental leave to argue that businesses know what’s best for themselves. All I was doing was referring to her anger.
Before Fiorina spoke with Jake Tapper, Trump himself called in and insisted he meant Kelly’s ears and nose, and only a “sick” person would think otherwise. She became very angry.
Fiorina, however, wasn’t buying it.
On Thursday, Fiorina said that former Florida governor Jeb Bush’s questioning of the amount of federal spending on women’s health care offered ammunition to Democrats who want to paint Republicans as anti-women.
She went on to talk about how sexist treatment has already played into her campaign. Fiorina also appeared on Fox News Sunday and said she’s already beginning to see a difference.
“The highest calling of leadership is to challenge the status quo”, she said, indicating that this would require a president who understands Washington and geopolitical strategy, but who is not of Washington.
She didn’t make the cut to be on the prime-time debate stage on Thursday, but she shined in the undercard debate for second-tier candidates and is seeking a bump in the polls to win a spot on the main stage at the next debate, in September at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library in Simi Valley. Health insurance premiums are up nearly 40 percent now.
