One dead, at least 3 wounded in Toronto nightclub shooting
At least two people have been shot dead and three more seriously wounded in a shooting attack at a party in Toronto, Canada. The shooting, which started in Muzik and then spilled onto the streets outside, left a man and woman in their 20s and 30s dead. Police believe there may be other victims, and are urging them to seek medical treatment.
Vice also reported it is unknown if Drake was still present at the venue during the incident.
The first officer to arrive at that area found a woman who had been shot and was able to administer CPR before she was rushed to a hospital where she died, police said. One person has a “less serious” injury.
The Toronto Police Service is asking for the public’s assistance in providing any information possible.
The venue sits on the grounds of the Canadian National Exhibition, which is across the bridge from the Molson Amphitheatre, where OVO ended its two-night run late Monday evening. The nightclub distanced itself from the shooting, saying: “This unfortunate incident occurred some distance away from our premises at 4am, long after Muzik had closed”. Frank Bergen. Sloly said their injuries are not life-threatening.
Kanye West was also in the city to perform at the main event, but it is unknown whether he went to the nightclub.
Officials have not released the names of the victims, and it is not clear if officers have any suspects in custody, according to the Daily News.
A police spokesman said there were three crime scenes.
He said police are investigating reports of other shootings in the downtown area that may be related. “Literally, our officers were running toward live-fire incidents”. “We were very lucky that this was not a larger body count, quite frankly”.
In a statement, Mayor John Tory said he was “both saddened and angered by these senseless shootings”.
He said his condolences were with the victims and the their families.
