Beckham slams critics of daughter’s dummy
At four years old, Harper Beckham is well beyond the age that most health experts would advise giving a child a dummy.
“I can’t believe she is still using a dummy”.
We might all love adorable Harper, but not everyone is a fan of that dummy and has encouraged her to spit it out. She’s been photographed with a pacifier many times throughout the last few months, and while we can totally understand it might be a little stressful for her with cameras flashing in her face so often, four is older than the recommended age to use the calming sucker. C’mon Mr and Mrs #Beckham.
Trained nurse and midwife Clare Byam-Cook, who worked for several years at Queen Charlotte’s Maternity Hospital in London, told British newspaper the Daily Mail that the Beckhams were putting Harper’s wellbeing at risk.
“Why do people feel they have the right to criticise a parent about their own children without having any facts?”, asked the former England captain.
Child care expert Fi Star-Stone said on Twitter that the dummy wasn’t the big issue: “Yes dummies used long term daily can damage teeth AND cause speech issues, but in moderation – they are fine!”
David warned people to “think twice” before passing judgement on his or anyone else’s parenting skills, stating that they “have no right” to do so. The couple are also parents to boys Brooklyn, Romeo and Cruz. “Leave the child be!” I mean seriously, world.
The celebrity news went wild this weekend as photos emerged of Victoria and David Beckham‘s daughter still using a dummy.
What is your view on the great dummy debate?
