Heath Ledger’s Diary While Playing The Joker Emerges In New Documentary
He said that sort of action was typical of his son for any movie, but he thought this diary-keeping was “a whole new level”.
All of that will change thanks to a German documentary that is attempting to shed light on the secretive life of Heath Ledger. To his credit, Ledger dissolved himself into the role as he ran across the streets of Chicago, Illinois, hidden behind worn-out, caked-in makeup and a wicked overcoat – so much so that a few names have even inferred such devotion led to his untimely demise. According to his father, Ledger went to great lengths to ensure that his take on the character was both authentic and different than any we’ve seen before, including sequestering himself for a month to get into Joker’s head.
The diary showcases playing cards – the joker; clown photos, and cells from old Batman comics.
Other imagery like those of hyenas, and the word “Chaos” are particular prevalent in the documentary.
In the years since Heath’s death, his family has gone the extra mile to ensure that they are able to keep his memory alive. His commitment to the role, for which he won a posthumous Oscar, has become legendary. Heath, 28, was found dead in his New York City apartment in January 2008, shortly after wrapping production on “The Dark Knight Rises”.
The studio describes the film stating, “Heath Ledger was also a very talented photographer, created collages and produced innovative music videos”.
The most chilling detail is when Kim comes to the final page of Heath’s diary, which features the “BYE BYE” scrawled over them in capitals. The video was shared on Reddit Sunday night, and captured the attention of many fans still fascinated by the actor and the character.
