Fremont Police Dog Niko Found Hiding In San Jose Creek Bed
Police found the dog near a creek bed at Almaden and Branham lane just after 11 a.m. on Sunday.
Niko escaped from a secured yard in San Jose’s Willow Glen area sometime after 10 p.m. Friday.
Niko was also wearing a metal collar, and is “microchipped”, said Fremont Police.
Niko looks to be in good health, police say, but he’s scheduled to be checked out just to make sure. Ricardo Cortes. “His handler responded as well, the dog came to the handler and it was all resolved at that point, the dog is now back with the handler”.
“The dog went outside like it normally does, and the owner fell asleep on his couch”, Bosques said.
San Jose and Fremont police officers as well as Santa Clara police search-and-rescue crews participated in the search for the black-and-tan German Shepherd. “He woke up a little bit later, went outside, and the dog was gone”.
Police didn’t say when Niko would return to work.
