Sky snaffles the rights to new Walking Dead series
Ever since an announcement was made that producers of “The Walking Dead” will create a spin-off, some of the viewers have been scratching their heads and asking, “Why?” I think so! Will we find out what the virus is and where it came from? “Fear the Walking Dead” will not portray the lives of wealthy individuals. The school teacher couple who intend to unite their dysfunctional family are unaware of the massive threat that is looming over Los Angeles. Some of the zombies will be characters we’ll get to know and like as actual human beings before they “turn”, possibly allowing for a more sympathetic view of zombies.
Yet the 90-minute premiere for “Fear the Walking Dead“, the eagerly anticipated offshoot of AMC’s megahit, initially feels too much like a snore, narrowly following a single, not-terribly-interesting family, and leaning heavily on musical cues to stoke a sense of suspense. Even as the fans wait for the premiere of the first season, AMC has confirmed a 15-episode order for Season 2, which is expected to premiere in 2016.
“The everyday pressure of blending two families while dealing with resentful, escapist and strung out children takes a back seat when society begins to break down”, Coming Soon said. The series stars Kim Dickens as Madison, Cliff Curtis as Travis, Frank Dillane as Nick, Alycia Debnam-Carey as Alicia, Elizabeth Rodriguez as Liza, Ruben Blades as Daniel, Mercedes Mason as Ofelia and Lorenzo James Henrie as Chris. It is supposed to be a prequel series, showing the events that happened a few weeks before Rick Grimes woke up in the original walker horror drama series. “One of the biggest mysteries on AMC’s hit series “The Walking Dead” is how the zombie apocalypse began”. In success, this second series – already renewed for another season – has plenty of room to grow without intruding on that other universe, while offering the opportunity to strategically help fill the gaps in the original’s lengthy hiatuses. On August 7, a video was uploaded to YouTube, which has the cast and crew of “Fear the Walking Dead” talking about what to expect in the upcoming series.
Nicotero said, “The director Adam Davidson and I talked about that as a really great blueprint – in terms of building paranoia, and the idea that the people next to you aren’t who they appear to be”.
