Timbaland To Release Never Before Heard Music From Aaliyah
People ask me all the time do I have any babegirl music we haven’t heard!!!!! After all, the latter has become a hot subject of debate in the music industry; recently, Amy Winehouse’s label CEO David Joseph called his decision to destroy the late singer’s recorded demos “a moral thing” in an interview with Billboard. “TIMBO x BABEGIRL!!!!! Sneak peak coming!!!!!!!” he captioned with a picture of Aaliyah’s face surrounded by clouds.
Timbaland has teased plans to release previously unheard Aaliyah music. In April, US rapper and singer T-Pain provoked fierce controversy and polarised fans when he boldly claimed her legacy was driven by her untimely death.
Aaliyah released her debut album, the R Kelly-produced Age Ain’t Nothing But A Number, in 1994.
Timbaland expressed his disapproval and anger of the new Lifetime Aaliyah biopic, which premiered in November of previous year. The project was disowned by Aaliyah’s brother Rashad Haughton, who tweeted “Statement: there is no official album being released and supported by the Haughton family”.
Nevertheless, she is regularly cited as an influence by many contemporary R&B artists, and her voice has been used in songs by Drake and Chris Brown in recent years.
